Unfortunately, the current situation in Australia is that political parties (especially new parties) are required to generate their own funds. This system is clearly being abused and corrupted as entities donate large sums to powerful parties (more than one!) to gain favour and influence policy. This party is ideologically and fundamentally opposed to this system due to the corruption and appearance of corruption, that this brings. All trust is lost.
Ultimately, this party would like to see all political parties funded solely by the public purse (the public do currently pay an amount proportional to the number of votes received to parties who gain more than 4% of the primary votes), with all political donations, fundraising, levies, passed on portions of membership fees, made illegal. This public expense would be paid for multiple times over by the savings from no more dodgey deals to mates. It would deincentivise expenditure like a $30M handout just because, or a $444M spend when no tender was even sought, or the purchase of land off a mate at 10x the going rate! Full public funding of parties would be far cheaper to Australia and go a great deal towards restoring some confidence in the political system. It would return the onus back to the people, not the (often faceless) mates.
